Victor Ross to serve as President of the Black Contractors Association of San Diego
The Black Contractor’s Association of San Diego is pleased to announce that its longtime board member, Mr. Ardell “Victor” Ross, who is a master stone masonry contractor, will serve as the 2023 president of the BCA of San Diego. Mr. Ross' leadership in the construction industry, has exemplified the best of what our contractors can become, if they work hard with an unyielding attitude. Victor Ross is a man of action and lives by the rule, “Get it done." He is a pioneer, trailblazer and a living legend, who has built some of San Diego’s most renowned projects, such as the San Diego Convention Center expansion, San Diego Petco Park Stadium, San Diego County Court House Hall of Justice, Malcolm X Library and San Diego Unified School District’s new Lincoln High School, which became known as “Crown Jewels”.
Other renowned projects includes, the San Diego Police Station on 25th and Imperial Ave., the New Gompers Preparatory Gymnasium, and the National Black Contractors Association of U.S.A., Inc. headquarters, which is home of the BCA Inner-city Community Unilateral Apprenticeship Committee building. Mr. Ross' most recent and highest visible project is the new San Diego County’s Southeastern San Diego Live Well Center, as well as the Valencia Pointe Apartments, just to name a few.
Vic Ross is a man amongst men, where his word is his bond, as he says what he means and means what he says. When you see Vic Ross on the job, you see people who look like him. He is unapologetically committed to helping hardworking Black men, women and others to get into the construction industry, as he hires them to become “Brick and Block Stone Mason's he recruits them into his, Local 4 and Local 11 Labor union, to provide them with opportunities to build careers. He is also a San Diego Chapter member of Mason Contractors Association of California, where his voice counts. Vic’s history in the San Diego construction industry is well respected, as he has worked with the likes of Roel Construction, Clark Construction, Hensel Phelps, Soltek Pacific Company, Turner Construction, PCL / Black IPO, Highland Partners and Barnhart-Reese Construction, Inc., on numerous construction projects. His leadership will bring greater unity within the local Black Contractor’s Association membership. He is a mentor to up and coming new contractors as he reach the crescendo of his career, he is too valuable to be overlooked by historians.
In his role as the local President of BCA he will help to support the National Black Contractors Association of U.S.A., Inc., President's and CEO, Mr. Abdur-Rahim Hameed to have more time to support the National BCA’s affiliate chapters on a national level.
